About the event

Barbara is a self-confessed cookbook tragic.  She collects them, treasures them and thinks nothing of the hours she spends in bookshops, trawling the cooking section shelves.  She buys cookbooks like others buy shoes, a tantalising purchase quaranteed to provide years of reading and cooking pleasure and joy.   Her love of cookbooks is both personal and professional, she buys books for her own collection and also seeks and sells vintage and out-of print cookbooks that are too important to end up in landfill.

In this presentation Barbara talks about the highs and lows of collecting cookbooks and in the process answers the insistent question of 'How many cookbooks are too many?'

About Barbara Sweeney

We have invited our food writer friend Barbara Sweeney to visit on the weekend of March 9 and 10 and asked her to present some fun workshops.  They are informed by what she loves - food, cookbooks, food writing and scones.

With a background in food writing and cooking, Barbara is the founder of Food & Words, which produces a very stylish, one-of-a-kind writers' festival of the same name.   Barbara has written for food for magazines and newspapers , including Country Style and The Sydney Morning Herald.   She can be heard weekly on NSW ABC Drive program talking about food with presenter Anna Moulder.  Barbara is an entertaining and engaging presenter, a great cook and a lot of fun.   We hope you like the sound of what we have planned for you.
